(Chocolate) Chip on My Shoulder

It's hard to move through life without developing an occasional chip on your shoulder. Whether you miss out on a job promotion, forgot the graham crackers at the grocery store on s'mores night (ahem, this has happened), or you're just feeling blue, a chip is bound to appear from time to time.

We are human, after all. We can't go through life without experiencing low lows and high highs (and middle middles?). Life doesn't appear to us as a platter of warm cookies served with a glass of (oat) milk. If anything, on particularly spicy days, life presents itself as a lukewarm side salad or soggy Cheerios. [Side note, why am I always so food-oriented during my existential crises?]

There is no point denying that bad days exist. Not only do they exist, but they can be overpowering and will wipe out the remnants of positivity gone by. Sometimes, it can feel crippling to try to gather that strength back up and walk out the door. Rhetorical questions like, "What could possibly be different today?" pop into your head. Your bed feels like it's surrounded by a magnetic force field, and you're a paperclip (or you know, like, some other magnetic item). The simple thought of trying something new feels exhausting.

On those days, in those moments, I want you to know - I just want to support you. I just want you to be okay. You don't have to have a five-year plan. Hell, if you know what you're doing two days from now, I'm impressed. You can even make chocolate chip cookies and then try to make a blog post about life and its rollercoaster of emotions and then try to make a connection between chocolate chip cookies and a chip on your shoulder because the alliteration sounds cool and you think it's funny... it's okay, we've all been there...

This is perhaps the most nonsensical post I have made to date - which really says something - but I guess I just wanted to make cookies and write about life. Because it's weird out there. And sometimes melted chocolate and (vegan) butter offer a really tasty respite.
